Here’s a mealtime presentation that is sure to make everyone happy: what appears to be an ordinary taiyaki monaka (A fish-shaped Japanese treat of two wafers sandwiching a sweet filling) actually holds a savory surprise.

Each cute and dissolvable wafer fish contains a miso soup base or ochazuke (traditional rice topping made with tea leaves) to create a flavorful and fun dish when you add hot water! This set has six fillings to try: red miso soup, blended miso soup (a combination of two or more miso soup bases), salmon ochazuke, plum ochazuke, seaweed ochazuke, and wasabi ochazuke.
